7 Marathons in 7 Days: Why This Challenge Matters

On 6th April, I’ll be taking on one of the toughest physical and mental challenges of my life: running seven full marathons in seven consecutive days.

This isn’t just an endurance challenge. It’s a deeply personal mission, driven by someone who has shaped my life from a very young age.

Why I’m Doing This

Steve is my godfather, my parents’ best mate, and someone who has always been there throughout my life. Seven months ago, he was given devastating news when he was diagnosed with an incredibly rare form of thyroid cancer.

Despite everything he’s facing, Steve continues to fight with remarkable strength, humour, and resilience. Watching the way he’s handled this journey has been nothing short of inspiring — and it’s the reason I decided to take on this challenge.

Supporting the Butterfly Thyroid Cancer Trust

I’m raising money for the Butterfly Thyroid Cancer Trust, a charity that provides vital support, information, and community for people affected by thyroid cancer. Thyroid cancer is often underestimated, yet its impact on individuals and families can be life-changing.

We’re working closely with the charity throughout this challenge to raise both funds and awareness, ensuring more people receive the support they need at every stage of their diagnosis and recovery.

A Moment I’ll Never Forget

Recently, I was with Steve when we passed the £1,000 fundraising milestone. Watching donations come in live, many from his own friends and family, was incredibly emotional. Sharing that moment with him reinforced exactly why this challenge matters and why every contribution makes a real difference.

The Challenge Ahead

Training is well underway and the miles are steadily building. Alongside the physical preparation, we’re also working on producing a special video to tell Steve’s story properly, to highlight the human reality behind the statistics and to show why awareness and funding are so important.

Running seven marathons in seven days will be one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but it’s a challenge I’m proud to take on for Steve, for the charity, and for everyone affected by thyroid cancer.
